a little soap goes a long way!

"Over-soap Consumption." It’s a nasty habit that we Goddesses of Clean get caught up in.

But, take it from Lindy Sue, using too much soap makes your machine work harder and ultimately wears your clothes out faster. One way to see if you’re over-doing the suds is by checking the lint trap in your dryer. If you’re collecting a lot of lint with each load, chances are good that you’re using too much soap. Cutting back to half the recommended amount of detergent will drastically reduce the excess lint in your dryer and, believe it or not, provide cleaner clothes that last longer! Just another great tip from clean-living Lindy Sue!

why didn't I use my lindy sue bags?

Take it from me -- always pack your Lindy Sue "Wash & Wear Bags" or your "Dainties Bag" -- even if you're only traveling for one night! If you don't have them, get them!! Here's what happened to me: I was at Oakland Airport. I had carefully followed all TSA rules and had lotions, etc., in an "authorized" baggie. But because I was only gone for one night, I left my underwear loose in my overnight bag. The TSA agent thought she saw something in my bag, so pulled me over and started pawing through my stuff. Granted, she was nice and she wore plastic gloves, but it still gave me the willies.

My first thought was: Damn! Why didn't I use my Lindy Sue Wash & Wear Bags! I'm never leaving home without them again.

life-saving tips for your swimsuit

Swimwear is exposed to many destructive elements: sand, sun, salt water, body oils, lotions and worst of all, sweat. (Eeek!)

Here are some laundry care tips from Lindy Sue to help extend the durability of your swimsuit:

"After each wear, hand wash swimsuit in cold water with mild soap. After every 3 - 4 wears, machine washing your swimsuit is key. For best results, place your swimsuit in Lindy Sue's durable Dainties bag and wash in the gentle cycle. Dry in the shade to retain swimsuit color. Do not bleach, iron, dry clean or tumble dry."

And lastly, rolling your swimsuit up in a towel or storing it while wet will only serve to ruin your suit... and break Lindy Sue's little heart!

dishwasher safe

To wash dirty cotton or washable wool hats all you need is, dishwashing detergent?!? Believe it or not, washing your favorite hat has never been easier. Securing with plastic clothespins, simply place the hat on the top rack of your dishwasher. Add the normal amount of dishwasher detergent and run through a regular wash and rinse cycle. Remove the hat prior to the drying cycle and place over a large coffee can to keep its shape while air-drying. I often cover the coffee can with a plastic bag or paper towel so as to avoid any rusting or staining.

According to Linda Cobb, of DIY's "Home Made Easy" and author of "Talking Dirty with the Queen of Clean," the solution to cleaning dingy wood floors can be as close as your kitchen cabinet.

"Clean your natural wood floors with black tea," Cobb says. "They love the tannins in tea. It's good for the wood, and it leaves a wonderful shine."

To start, steep the tea, and let it cool to room temperature. Dip a mop or soft cloth into the mixture, and ring it out well before using so it won't drip. Wipe and watch your wood floors go from winter woes to spring sparkles!
